Sentosa Golf Club Irrigation Renovations at Serapong and Tanjong Courses

James Schumacher, President of Aqua Turf International, Inc. (ATI) visited Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore last week. The Serapong Course began hosting in 2005 the prestigious Barclays Singapore Open on the European Tour and is the current home of the LPGA HSBC Classic. Sentosa Golf Club is one of the premier golf clubs in Asia.

ATI prepared a control system renovation plan for the Serapong Course in 2014. The renovation work is ongoing and performed by Advance Tech Irrigation Golf from Singapore. The irrigation system renovation at the Serapong Course consists of:

  • Upgrade of all the sprinklers to the new Toro Infinity Series
  • Upgrade all sprinklers to individual sprinkler control from 2 – 3 operating together previously
  • New Toro Lynx central control system
  • New Toro VPe Satellites
  • New control system communication wire
  • New bare copper bonding and shielding wire to enhance the grounding

Advance Tech Irrigation Golf are “pulling” much of the wire to avoid damage to the turf and inconvenience to the golfers as much as possible.

The Tanjong Course is scheduled for a complete course reconstruction.

The Tanjong Course is scheduled for a complete course reconstruction. ATI provided the irrigation design and is contracted to perform the system layout and inspection upon commencement of construction. The project is in the bidding stage with work planned to commence in November 2015.

During the visit Mr. Schumacher inspected some of the work on the Serapong Course with Andy Johnston, General Manager and Rodney McKeown, Golf Course Superintendent and attended meetings regarding the Tanjong course renovation.
